Photographic prints overview

There are currently over 2,700 photographs in the image library, in standard, widescreen or square format. These are available as prints on a variety of quality paper types – regular (matte, lustre or gloss) and giclée – and in a range of print sizes relevant to each image format.

The three image formats are outlined below with example photographs, the print pricing for all available sizes and papers, and print size comparison charts. The charts have been created to the same scale for all formats, allowing you to compare print sizes across the entire range.

All prints are professionally produced and shipped worldwide by Spectrum Photographic in East Sussex, England, and normally ship within 48 hours. There is no minimum order requirement. If you’d just like to order one copy of that particular photo because you love it, then go for it!

Standard Prints

The majority of photos in the image library, such as the beautiful Wast Water scene above, have a traditional 3:2 aspect ratio and are available in a wide range of standard print sizes.

Widescreen Prints

Widescreen or panoramic photos, such as the image of Sydney Opera House above, have a 2:1 aspect ratio and are particularly suitable for large-format gallery-style printing and framing. There are currently over 150 image library photographs in widescreen format, which for your convenience have been grouped into a single gallery.

Standard aspect ratio photos may also be ordered as widescreen prints – you get to choose how the image is cropped during the order process.

Square Prints

A few images in the library, such as the 59th Street Bridge photo above, are square-cropped to make the subject stand out in a particular way. These are also most suitable for large-format gallery-style printing and framing, and work very well for portraits.

Standard aspect ratio photos may also be ordered as square prints – you get to choose how the image is cropped during the order process.

Regular papers

Fuji Crystal Archive Matte

Professional archival colour paper with a matte finish – the first choice for exhibition prints.

Fuji Crystal Archive Lustre

A slightly stippled surface gives this paper a semi-matte finish, with deep blacks and more forgiving on fingerprints. Commonly used for professional wedding photographs.

Fuji Crystal Archive Gloss

A very good base white – giving punchy colours, great for those high impact shots.

Gicleé Fine Art papers

Somerset Enhanced Velvet 225gsm

Made from 100% cotton – a velvety mid textured surface used for fine art reproduction and photography. Won an award from the British Institute of Professional Photography.

Innova FibaPrint White Matte 285gsm

Excellent value, this paper has an ultra-smooth matt surface and brilliant white colour.

Useful notes

• In some cases, an image will need to be cropped in order to fit your chosen paper size. You will be given the opportunity to adjust the crop area to your liking for any such image(s) during the checkout process.
• The majority of photographs in the image library were taken with a Canon EOS 5D MkII 21 megapixel camera, producing very large image files suitable for printing at the larger printing sizes on offer. Photos taken prior to 17 December 2008 have a slightly lower resolution and print availability for these is automatically limited to the smaller print sizes.
• Print sizes listed are approximate. Prices are quoted in Euros and are correct as at 27 July 2011. The pricing and paper availability listed here is reflected throughout the photographic image library and is subject to change or withdrawal without notice.
